Incredible remark from 10/30/09 R. Crumb interview

In a brief interview with the San Francisco Chronicle last Friday, Robert Crumb had this to say about the process of creating his new rendering of the book of Genesis into comics:

...I really had to learn how to draw to make this book.

And after reading that statement, I had to pick my eyeballs off the floor, where they'd landed after popping out of their sockets.

That's what I've been thinking, every time I look at a Crumb comic: "Man, this guy would be great, if he would only learn to draw!"

My eyeballs jumped out after reading this line:

"I thought making a comic book would make it easier to read."

Yeah, not helping Rob.

It was very interesting for me to read the post. Thanx for it. I like such themes and everything connected to them. I definitely want to read a bit more on that blog soon.

Wow. That's really incredible to read... Because I really admire his drawing abilities (particularly outside of comic book style).

Also wanted to say that the eyeballs falling out of your sockets image was suitably Underground Comics-esque choice.
